I am honored to be nominated to serve on the SJDM Executive Board and would welcome the opportunity to represent the interests of our membership, strengthen our community, and help amplify the impact of our scholarship.
SJDM has long been a valued home for me and my research, which sits at the intersection of psychology, marketing, and public policy. My work examines how people navigate decisions on behalf of others, when they delegate decisions to others, and how institutions can design policies to help people make better decisions. I deeply value the opportunities SJDM provides to exchange ideas across disciplinary boundaries and would welcome the chance to help sustain and strengthen that community.
I bring experience in society leadership and editorial service. I have served as At-Large Director for the Association for Consumer Research; Policy Chair, Social Co-chair, Sponsorship/Fundraising Committee Co-chair, and AMA Conference Track Co-chair for the Society for Consumer Psychology; Conference Co-chair for the Behavioral Science and Policy Association; Judgment and Decision Making Preconference Co-chair for the Society for Personality and Social Psychology; and Co-chair of the Women in SJDM Networking Event. I currently serve on the Association for Consumer Research’s Partnership Task Force, as a deputy editor at Behavioral Science & Policy, and as an associate editor at the Journal of Consumer Research. I would draw on these experiences to help SJDM respond to members’ needs, strengthen connections across disciplines, and create opportunities for members to contribute to our community.
I also bring experience translating behavioral research into policy and practice. I have served on the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team and the Office of Evaluation Sciences, where I applied insights about judgment and decision making to design and test interventions to help our government better serve the public. This work showed me what behavioral science can accomplish when researchers and practitioners work together. I would help build those connections between SJDM scholars and policymakers, practitioners, and the public to bring our research to bear on important societal challenges.
As a board member, I would listen closely to members across disciplines, career stages, and settings and work collaboratively to turn their priorities into action. I would be grateful for the opportunity to help strengthen a society that has meant so much to me and support its members in shaping its future.
